DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: CHARACTERIZATION AND ATTITUDE OF FAMILY HEALTHY TEAM FRONT OF THE PROBLEM

Objective: to know the characterization and attitude of the family health team in front of domestic violence. Method: it is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory study, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 11 professional of the team located in the Sanitary District of the Suburb Railway of the city of Salvador-Bahia / Brazil, in the first two months on 2010. Data were analyzed through content thematic analysis. Results: health professionals characterize violence against woman as a serious, severe and important matter in society, howeversome professionals feel powerless to provide assistance to women in this situation. Conclusion: it has been shown the need to bring the problematic of domestic violence against women, so that this situation, which is a social problem, becomes to be understood also as a public health problem.
