Bibliographical research developed at the Bank of Thesis of Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem from 2001 to 2008 using the words: pediatric nursing and family. The objective was to identify and analyze nursing research about children care that involves chronic disease and/or disability at home. 311 abstracts were found and after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 36 productions were selected. Data were submitted to descriptive analysis and thematic content analysis. It was found that the trend of the studies is focused on the family, on the sick child, illness and hospitalization. However, we identified gaps in relation to the preparation of these families to continue the treatment and care at home. Commitment and constant training of professionals to assist technology-dependent children and their families are recommendedDownloads
