USE TABERIA AUREA (BENTH. & HOOK.) IN URBAN AFFORESTATION OF THE SÃO JOSÉ DO SERIDÓ CITY

The paper presents results of a survey developed by planting Craibeira (Tabebuia aurea), in urban areas, with the purpose of beautification, improvement of thermal comfort and increased biodiversity city in São José do Seridó / RN. This is a biome found in xerophytic scrub with important socioeconomic and environmental properties. In 2008, the plants were brought from the field, aside from easy regeneration area with total height (TH) varying between 0.90 m and 1.30 m. On occasion, were placed in plastic containers and maintained at the production of seedlings of the municipality, until the permanent planting in March 2009. Altogether 135 seedlings were planted. The trees will contribute to relief urban aspect and climate, desertification and mitigate the capture of carbon dioxide. The evaluation conducted in May 2012 there was a variation in total height between 1.2 and 4.0 meters. All plants were alive. The plants grew faster, were already producing flowers and seeds.Downloads
