Journal's History

Contemporânea - Journal of PPGART/UFSM came back in an online format aiming at knowledge exchange. Once it prioritizes the democratization of scientific and artistic research, it optimizes the distribution and attends to the demands of environmental sustainability and open access system.

Back in 2016, the Post-Graduation in Visual Arts program from Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) noticed the importance of the production of eletronic knowledge. Between the many benefits eletronic Journals offer to the comunity, we highlight its immediate access, unlimited availability and, last but not least, the Open Acess. The initiative of Open Acess meets its principles in the concentration and sharing of common aspects of the scientific community, as well as the low cost in the publishing of works from all types of researchers (MEHREZI, 2010).

In this aspect, the Contemporânea Journal shares the principle that a knowledge file is an unstable object, in opposition to an active one, inside a multiple and malleable logic difusion, what also refers to itss availability. By inserting itself in the contect of contemporary art, Contemporânea is emphasizing the imagetic and narrative relations of the plastic relations, which will contribute to the research inside visual arts.
