NEGRAS COM ESTILO: UMA ANÁLISE DA REPRESENTAÇÃO DE ESTILO NA SÉRIE ANTÔNIA

Abstract

: Neste artigo, trataremos do estilo como um componente importante na tríade de características que se sobressaem e permeiam a cultura negra contemporânea – estilo, música, corporalidade – conforme propõe Hall (2008). Observaremos tal questão, assim como a representação estética da mulher negra, a partir da série televisiva Antônia. Analisamos o estilo na série e especialmente como é promovida uma transformação estilística no enredo, bem como suas implicações. Para tanto, traçamos também algumas questões importantes concernentes às mulheres negras na atualidade, principalmente no que diz respeito a auto-imagem das mesmas.

Black with style: an analysis of style representation in Antônia

Abstract: In this article we will assume style as an important component in Hall’s triad of contemporary black culture elements (2008) – style, music, corporality. We will approach this issue and the representation of black women beauty and aesthetics, in the television show Antônia. We will analyze style in the show, especially on how a style makeover is shown in the plot as well as its implications. For that it is necessary to bring some important subjects concerning black women and their self image today.
