This text contextualizes the centenary of Michel Foucault’s birth to examine the productivity and vitality of his legacy in contemporary communication studies. Although Foucault did not formulate a theory of communication, his works provide a theoretical and methodological framework that allows for analyzing the complexity of processes, phenomena and dynamics constitutive of the communication field. The text presents the dossier, which brings together 17 articles written by 28 researchers from Brazil and Argentina. The publication attests to the current relevance and importance of the Foucaultian framework for the analysis of communication dynamics.
