Academic studies indicate that there is a growing competition among universities for resources of various kinds, alongside an increasing need for societal attention. In order to survive and stand out in this context, universities have begun to conform to logics of media visibility in digital spaces. One way to secure this visibility has been the dissemination of their scientific production, especially through mass media journalism. This study aims to analyze the criteria used by university press offices when selecting research to publicize. By examining 25 universities in Brazil, the findings reveal, within communication sectors, a clear manifestation of the mediatization of science, as press offices themselves adopt criteria similar to those of journalism to promote research and institutional activities.
