This article presents a debate about the intertwining of the melodramatic and religious imagery for the construction of so-called spiritist telenovelas. Based on the experience of Latin modernity, with its own secularizing nuances, the text is methodologically based on televisuality and the application of television style as a procedural parameter. Based on the telenovelas A Viagem, Alma Gêmea and Além do Tempo, the article identifies that the stylistic marks used in the plots resignify the meanings of death to meet these two great matrices that shape the Latin worldview: melodrama and religion.Downloads
