Abstract

The article analyzes the Tá Faltando Água application, which aims to generate independent data on São Paulo's water crisis employing a logic of shared geolocated information. Placing the initiative within a phenomenon of civilian oversight that has gained strength in recent years, we highlight the issue of distrust of official information, the dynamic of independent data generation and some of the challenges involved in such a process, especially the tension between the political and utilitarian characters, the social mobilization and the credibility of the information generated.
