This paper reviews the literature and methodologies regarding some aspects involving the TV Brasil’s broadcast of Angolan production Windeck, the first African soap opera run in the country and whose cast is primarily made up of black actors. The backdrop for our examination are the discussions about the implementation of public affirmative action policies in Brazil dedicated to the media, the role of public TV in this process, and the importance of representation diversity in the media. Although it is a relevant initiative for having various representations of black people shown in the media, we have found a few gaps, such as the channel’s relatively low audience rates and, more broadly, the lack of more effective projects fighting racism and empowering different ethnicities in the media.
