Abstract

Published in 2022, "O negro declara e outros poemas" is the first anthology of Langston Hughes' poetry published in Brazil. The critical review makes brief notes on the main characteristics present in some of his poems, such as the thematic and aesthetic-formal relationship with black musical styles, the denunciation of racism and the valorization of black identity.
