Between the idealized and the experienced: a reflection on associative management in solidary enterprises of family farming in Bahia

This article analyzed associative management, its weaknesses and the challenges to ensure a self-management practice in family farming enterprises in the solidarity economy (EAFES). With regard to the methodology, we used secondary sources, handling data from the 2017 Agricultural Census, by IBGE, in order to characterize the family establishments that are linked to cooperatives in the state of Bahia. In addition, we analyzed two reports resulting from university extension actions with solidarity enterprises at UFRB, highlighting the inferences about associative management. Empirical data were collected with the case study in a family farming cooperative with territorial action, through the google form, in January and February 2022. The results showed advances in commercialization, but serious difficulties in the rotation of leaders, low participation of associated in the decision-making processes and dependence on agents who provide support or advice as constraints in the management that proposes to be self-managed.
