The study aimed to comparatively analyze the management model and the governance structure adopted by an energy distribution and generation cooperative with what the legislators and regulators and the revised literature recommend. A case study was carried out with qualitative analysis of the evidence obtained through documentary research, non-participating observations and unstructured interviews. The results were obtained through content analysis and evidence triangulation. The existence of a management model and a basic and traditional governance structure in the cooperative was detected. However, there is a gap between cooperative practices and what legislators and regulatory bodies establish and the revised literature. Thus, improvements were suggested in some management and governance practices already adopted by the cooperative. The study's contributions are aimed at the cooperative and the expansion of knowledge on the subject studied.Downloads
