Usos e aplicações da toxina botulínica: revisão integrativa

Resumo

Um dos procedimentos mais procurados no Brasil na área da estética é a aplicação de toxina botulínica, o qual também pode ser utilizado para outras finalidades, como o bruxismo, paralisia facial, enxaqueca, distonias cervicais, entre outros. Este estudo teve como objetivo realizar uma revisão bibliográfica sobre os diferentes usos e aplicações da toxina botulínica. Este método foi escolhido devido a sua utilidade em fornecer uma visão ampla do assunto, permitindo que os profissionais da área se informem sobre as várias descobertas relacionadas a essa substância. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de busca nas bases de dados: United States National Library of Medicine (PubMed) e Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), utilizando os termos "toxina botulínica tipo A", "uso terapêutico", "indicações", mediante os conectores lógicos “and” e “or”, juntamente com seus respectivos descritores em inglês. Foram incluídos estudos que contemplassem o tema proposto, entre 2019 e 2023, sendo os critérios de inclusão o ano de publicação correspondente aos últimos 5 anos, a possibilidade de acesso ao texto completo, o título e resumo de relevância. De um total de 148 artigos revisados, 95 foram selecionados para estudo. Foram explorados o histórico e o desenvolvimento da toxina botulínica, incluindo sua descoberta, produção e suas diversas aplicações. Este estudo ressaltou não apenas a eficácia da toxina botulínica, mas também enfatizou a importância de adotar abordagens personalizadas e seguras. Espera-se que este estudo sirva de incentivo para pesquisas futuras com o objetivo de aprimorar a saúde e o bem-estar dos pacientes.
