Abstract

Aim: evaluate the characteristics of family health professionals in the health care of violence cases. Method: this is a cross-sectional study, using data collected through structured interviews of a family health professional census. The outcome was the treatment or identification of cases of violence against children or adolescents and predictors were sex, age, region, length of service in the family health and theoretical knowledge. Results: the prevalence of treatment or identification of cases of violence was 47.4% (95% CI: 38.6 to 56.4). Through hierarchical analysis grouping variables in the dimensions: Demographic and Work process, the highest prevalence ratios were observed among professionals with greater length of service in family health (PR = 3.17 95% CI: 1.11 to 9.03) and knowledge about legislation (PR = 2.06 95% CI: 1.12 to 3.81).
