Abstract

This article aims to analyze the applicability of Swot Analysis as a support tool for the strategic planning of the internationalization process within the context of federal institutions of higher education. The research is characterized as exploratory and descriptive, with a qualitative approach and the use of Swot Analysis as a management tool to diagnose the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that impact the performance of the research locus agency, the Internationalization Agency of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul. The results indicate that the application of the analysis tool proved to be useful and replicable for the strategic diagnosis of the internationalization process in higher education. It is concluded that the internationalization process within any Federal Institution of Higher Education should be understood as a transversal public educational policy that requires planning, and that Swot Analysis can be used as a supporting tool for strategic diagnosis, while respecting the environments and local conditions of each institution.
