Purpose: Innovation is widely explored in the literature under different theoretical-empirical approaches in individual, organizational, and macroeconomic contexts. However, analyses that discuss the possible influence of national culture on innovation do not occur at the same frequency. In this context, the primary objective of this study was to analyze international scientific production that intersects with the themes of national culture and innovation, aiming to map publication trends and advance knowledge on the topic.
Methodology: Bibliometric analysis in the CAPES Journal Portal, which includes the recognized databases Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, ScienceDirect, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Scielo, Pepsic, and PubMed.
Findings: The results of this study demonstrate that the field of research on the intersections between national culture and innovation remains underdeveloped globally, creating a relevant gap in the literature given the strategic relevance of national culture for innovation at individual, organizational, and national levels.
Originality: Through the mapping, it was possible to develop a research agenda, outlining paths for further studies with a view to a more in-depth development of the themes. Although studies that simultaneously investigate national culture and innovation remain scarce, the research showed that this is a growing field. However, this rise has not yet generated leading authors, universities, or scientific journals.
