Professional development and career management in undergraduate education: report of an elective discipline in the bachelor’s degree of Public Policy Management at USP

Abstract

This paper describes and analyzes the offer of an elective discipline in the Public Policy Management undergraduate course at EACH-USP, based on an active methodology that interrelates personal self-knowledge, life purpose and career management. This is an experience report that is academically justified by the non-content approach to the subject, by its co-production between the university and a third-sector organization, and by the teaching modality adopted in the pandemic. The course provided the opportunity for students to discuss professional development based on socio-emotional skills, understand the mechanisms of professional insertion in the labor market and get to know the trajectory of former students who work in different fields of activity.
