Abstract

The article presents the BRICS digital sovereignty concept for the oil and gas industry, aiming to reduce reliance on Western proprietary solutions from the USA (General Electric), Japan (Yokogawa), France (Schneider Electric) and Germany (Siemens). The extension of the BRICS member states with the inclusion of the UAE, Egypt, and Turkey strengthens its role as a key global hydrocarbons player. Russia proposes a joint open-source digital ecosystem based on the ZIIoT O&G platform, ensuring data control, technological independence, and cost efficiency. The initiative was endorsed at the 2024 BRICS Energy Ministers' Meeting, highlighting the need for a unified strategy. Potential consortium participants include Petrobras (Brazil), Saudi Aramco, PDVSA (Venezuela) and others. Implementation will enhance energy security and offer a global alternative model for technological development. The key advantages include sovereignty of critical control, immunity to sanctions, and integrated full-cycle solutions from extraction to sales, which will enhance digital sovereignty of BRICS and their allies.
