Latin American writings: contemporary realities of subalternized peoples

Abstract

This article proposes an analysis and reflection on the knowledge of Latin American researchers from the 19th century to the present day. To this end, it includes some thinkers who dared to reflect on blacks, women, indigenous people, peasants and other subalternized groups. Reflections that diverge epistemologically from the theoretical frameworks imposed by most Brazilian universities, which are more focused on north-centric curricula. Many black, indigenous and subalternized women propose emancipatory knowledge production, subverting class, race and gender. However, this research uses the method of bibliographical research, in which studies are mainly pointed out whose orientations are observed as anti-racist, anti-colonial and progressive theorists, thinking in a way of decolonizing knowledge and exercising practices that revive writing in Latin America.
