A hegemonia britânica no Brasil do século XIX

Abstract

The issue of hegemony in the international system provides a series of debates about its role as a factor of international stability or instability, as well as about the costs and benefits of being a hegemon state and about the rise and fall of hegemons in the world system throughout history. While discussing hegemony in the international system the 19th century, Great Britain shall be seen as the main world power of that era. This work looks for discussing issues related to hegemony in the international environment under the lenses of realist and Marxist theories of International Relations, as well as analyzing how the British hegemony affected Brazil in the 19th century.
