Abstract

The objective of the work was to understand the agricultural potentialities of the municipal district of Arroio do Tigre/RS taking for base the historical retrospective, going by transformations in the productive base and the current permanence of the agricultural activities as advisors to the market. The analysis bases on documents and secondary data of the local agricultural activity. The work analyzes the evolution and the implication of the current productive base in the economy of the area and in the family farmers' actions. The study made possible to identify that the tobacco is the main activity guided for the market and the cultivation of the corn, bean, wheat and soy act as complemental activities of income. Finally, we marked the existence of other products returned just for the self-consumption of the family designating important paper in the composition of the farmers' diet.
