performative acts and regimes of truth in Alcione’s image

Abstract

This article examines the circulation of digital statements linking the Brazilian singer Alcione to a recent political event known as macumbinha. Drawing on Foucault (1979; 2008), the study approaches these materials as discursive practices embedded in regimes of truth and shaped by sociotechnical dispositifs that organize visibility and meaning-making. Using a qualitative approach grounded in archaeogenealogy, the study analyzes a corpus of social media posts, images, user comments, and news coverage collected from digital platforms. The statements were selected according to their recurrence, engagement, and diversity of formats. The analysis is organized around three analytical axes: symbolic legitimation, performative acts, and discursive regularities. The findings show that Alcione's public image contributes to the stabilization of political narratives while fostering forms of belonging and the constitution of truth.
