The audiovisual contract in Bacurau:
an analysis of sound from the audience's perspective

Based on the gap between the complexity of sound design in cinema and audience interpretations, this article aims to analyze the processes of sound decoding in the film Bacurau, by Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles, expressed by users of the AdoroCinema website. It questions the audience's sound appropriations, considering the technical quality of its production. To this end, the Circuit of Culture and film analysis were adopted as the theoretical-methodological approach. As a result, it was possible to perceive that viewers do not have much familiarity with the technical aspects of sound in the film, unlike what is noted regarding imagery aspects, so that from the audience's perspective the subjective and objective elements interfere with the technical and artistic interpretation of the film.
