Abstract

Studies on the transition to democracy in Argentina in 1983, are usually based on the main newspapers, but as a source. However, this article addresses this process using La Nación newspaper to determine what role it played as a crucial "political stakeholder" in that period. It also explores the discursive strategies adopted from the editorial section, in order to rank the political parties and the instrumentation of the presidential election held on October 30th. Therefore, the versatility of this means when orienting public opinion and even those who are made imperceptible can be determined when La Nacion treats then from an "ideological" point of view and thus, far from the doctrinaire trend that it invariably claims to follow. In sum, "the editorial of doctrine" never diverges from interceding in the political life of Argentina.
