This article aims to present historical and philosophical elements that can help to think through the theses and discussions that emerged from what is sometimes called "epistemological field of communication" since the last turn of Century. In the first section, we speak about the origins and tasks of the philosophy of science— or epistemology. Next, one examines the way in which the human sciences became its object of study, pointing out the main reflexive stages of the subject. In the end, attention is drawn to the crisis of epistemology as authorize discourse that takes place in postmodernity — paradoxically a time of the explosion of the communication sciences.
