The main objective of this study is to demonstrate and contextualize, in an initial and international way, the development of cooperativism in Italy, from the ottocentto, its passage through the two World Wars to the improvement of cooperation (and consequent cooperativism) in Italy until today, as well how to present development and its outstanding economic importance in that country. Initially, when establishing studies on the founding elements of cooperativism, especially its development in the international economic scenario, it was observed that, given the contemporary reality and structural changes in the center of social and economic relations, that of the cooperative society (as thought since its emergence), it needed to be analyzed from its origin and highlighting the root of the cooperative phenomenon is far from being just an historical narrative initiative, but above all, anchoring it in an earlier and undisputed way with the definition of the theoretical and fundamental milestones, especially on the fundamental role of cooperation itself, in the civic values it carries and in its emancipatory potential.
