Objective: To compare and correlate flexibility, isometric strength of the quadriceps femoris with the functional dynamic balance of physically active adults affected by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Method: A cross-sectional, analytical study, approved by the Ethics Committee, was conducted with physically active young adults, categorized between those with prior COVID-19 infection and those not affected. Flexibility of the lower limbs was assessed using the sit-and-reach test, quadriceps femoris strength using isometric dynamometry, and functional dynamic balance using the Y-Balance Test Lower Quarter. Comparative inferential analysis was performed between the COVID-19 affected group and the control group using the Student’s t-test, along with Spearman correlation and linear regression, with significance set at p<0.05. Results: Forty adults (20±1.75 years), of both sexes, were evaluated. There was greater variation in dynamic balance performance in the group without COVID-19 infection, and quadriceps strength was higher in those affected by the virus. Flexibility showed average performance in both groups. However, no significant results were found in the comparisons or correlations. Conclusion: SARS-CoV-2 infection in adults who remained physically active was not a determinant in causing changes in balance, flexibility, or quadriceps femoris strength, indicating that regular physical exercise prevented potential deleterious effects of the virus.
