Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The article is original and unpublished, not under review for publication by another journal, and not to be submitted to other journals while under review. If the article has been submitted to another journal, the author should indicate it in the comments to the editor.

  • Files for submission must be sent in Microsoft Word (*.doc) format. (since we don't ultrapass 2MB)


  • The text follows the APA rules and conform to the template.

  • The text follows the standards of style and bibliographic requirements outlined in Guidelines for Authors, in the section About the Journal.

  • The identification of authorship of the work was removed from the file and the Properties option in Word, guaranteeing in this way the confidentiality criteria, if submitted for peer review (e.g. articles), as per available in ensuring Blind peer review.

  • At the time of submission, all requested documents must be sent, including the Biography and Contribution of the Authors..

  • The paper is in the English language and the authors undertake to send the final version of the manuscript, duly translated and revised into English if accepted.

  • All authors of the manuscript must be registered in the Journal's System, following the submission instructions.

Technical standards for the publication of scientific articles:

For writing and presenting the text, it is required to conform to the rules of the American Psychological Association (APA). See the example of how to use the APA standards:

1. Technical characteristics:

- The accepted text editor is Word  (*.doc);

- Font: Arial or Open Sans, size 12, with the exception of the inner figures and tables that must use size 10;

2. Specific characteristics:

2.1 The first page of the file must include:

(a) Thematic area according to the CNPQ classification (Area: 6.00.00.00-7 Applied Social Sciences; Specialties - 6.02.00.00-6 Management).

(b) Title of the paper (in English and Portuguese);

(c) Structure Abstract (in English and Portuguese) -  (maximum 250 words in the topics bellow)

  • Purpose (mandatory)
  • Design/methodology/approach (mandatory)
  • Findings (mandatory)
  • Research limitations/implications (if applicable)
  • Practical implications (if applicable)
  • Social implications (if applicable)
  • Originality/value (mandatory)
  • Keywords - (Authors should provide appropriate and short keywords that encapsulate the principal topics of the paper. The maximum number of keywords is 5.)

Structure Abstract

2.2 The content of articles must present, whenever possible:

(a) Objectives

(b) Literature review;

(c) Methodology;

(d) Results and conclusions;

(e) Limitations;

(f) Study recommendations; and

(g) References;

2.3 The figures, tables, illustrations, and equations should contain captions, credits, source, and be in JPG format in the body of the text. If there are figures and tables imported from other programs, such as Excel and Power Point, they must be converted to JPG;

2.4 Bibliographic references must be presented in alphabetical order at the end of the article, in accordance with APA;

2.5 A maximum of five (5) authors are allowed per article; Only persons who have sufficiently participated in the development of the work should be designated as authors, according to the criteria of the ICMJE, which considers the author to be the one who contributed substantially to:

(i) conception, planning, analysis or interpretation of data,
(ii) writing of the article or its critical intellectual review,
(iii) review and approval of the final version for publication.
Smaller contributions, such as suggested references, data analysis or editing assistance do not guarantee authorship credit.

Articles accepted approved for publication need to specify the contribution of every single author, , considering the following items:
1.Definition of research problem, 2. Development of hypotheses or research questions (empirical studies), 3. Development of theoretical propositions (theoretical work), 4. Theoretical foundation/Literature review, 5. Definition of methodological procedures, 6. Data collection, 7. Statistical analysis, 8. Analysis and interpretation of data, 9. Critical revision of the manuscript, 10. Manuscript writing, 11. Other (please specify) 

2.6 The paper can have a maximum of 25 pages, including illustrations and bibliographical references.

2.7 Papers should be submitted in the English language. Thus, the authors who have articles accepted for publication written in Portuguese, Spanish, or French before 2019, should forward a version of the text that has been duly translated and revised to English.

2.8 The article must be unpublished in Brazil or in another country, and the inclusion of part or preliminary version of it in the proceedings of scientific congress of any nature is not considered a breach of originality;

2.9 The authors warrant, when submitting an article, that it does not contain any violation of copyright or other third party right and are responsible for its content. ReA-UFSM uses the CopySpider (https://copyspider.com.br/) to fight academic and professional plagiarism and to verify the originality of submitted and published works. In case of detection of plagiarism, the article is excluded from the submission process and the authors will not be allowed to submit new articles to the journal for a period of three years.

2.10 The ReA / UFSM aligned with Open Science practices:

- Accepts the submission of manuscripts previously deposited in preprint servers, once they are stored in reliable platforms, such as Scielo Preprints, SSRN and OSF;

- Requires the citation and referencing of data, software codes and other content underlying the texts of the articles. Recommends that the cited content be made available in open access;

- Offers options for opening the peer review process.

Therefore, when submitting the manuscript, the corresponding author must inform about the alignment of the research and conformity of the manuscript with open science practices, through Open Science Compliance Form, which must be submitted as a supplementary file with the manuscript.

2.11 It is mandatory that the authors submit, as supplementary documentation, a biographical record of all authors in Portuguese and English, informing the ORCID, name, title, institutional affiliation, city/country of origin, and titles.

2.12 The ReA will prioritize for publication purposes articles  that include researchers from foreign universities. 

2.13 Copyright and Licensing: This journal remains the copyright holders of articles published. In order to be published, authors must sign the Copyrights Letter, which is sent to the authors by e-mail, thus granting rights, including on translation, to ReA/UFSM. The journal grants third parties the right to use, reproduce, and share the article according to the Creative Commons license agreement (CC-BY 4.0), as stated in the article’s PDF documents.

Note: The REA UFSM Editor, consulting the Editorial Board when necessary, will solve any unforeseen cases in these standards.

 

Articles will be automatically rejected if they do not conform to the format required above.

The REA UFSM does not charge submission and article processing fees.
