Analysis of the application of Hack’s method in a geomorphological study of tributaries in the upper reaches of the Itapocu River Basin, Santa Catarina (SC) – Brazil

This paper is part of a broader study that aims to raise geomorphological and hydrological data of the Itapocu watershed, located in northeast Santa Catarina State, Brazil. For that, different morfometric methods had been searched that better detected the anomalies of the fluvial gradient resulting from changes in the geologic basement. The method considered for Hack, correspondent to índex SL (slope versus lenght), presented an excellent option and initially was applied in the two main tributaries that compose the superior course of the River Itapocu. The results of the application of the method in the longitudinal profiles point bigger values between the lithologics successions, mainly between the volcanic/sedimentary rocks and gnaisses rocks.
