Implications of charcoal production in the municipality of Montezuma, Minas Gerais: perceptions of the local population

Coai production plant in Minas Gerais is the result of a strategy of industrial development program of the State in the 197Os. Toe daily life ofto people who work in coal-factories points to issues such as the need for srnvival in a region lacking opportunities. Toe vision of the rmal population on the enviromnent reflects the link with the front seat and perception of the situation of environmental degradation resulting from constant changes in the landscape. These relationships go along with human actions promoted by groups of entrepreneurs and owners of coai that have changed and continue redesigning the landscape of the city of Montezuma / MG, disregrding the dynarnics of the relationship between man and nature.
