Abstract

The analysis of the morphodynamics of the relief is crucial for understanding its Geodiversity. The behavior of the relief of the Mountain range of Tombador is heterogeneous in the configuration of the landscape of the Municipality of Jacobina, semi-arid in Bahia. The objective of this research was to map the geomorphological features of the eastern portion of the Mountain range of Tombador, located in the Municipality of Jacobina/BA, to better understand the morphodynamics of the cuesta system. For the methodology, taxonomic organization was sought as a method for classifying relief at multiple scales and compartments. To classify the features, the IBGE bases were used, considering the respective manual. In the results, one can see formations of flattening, dissection, and accumulation models, in addition to the anthropogenic model, the result of mining evident in the area. The morphology of the area follows an evolution based on ancient and recent processes, which are organized in a cuestiform context with the emergence of residual features such as the cuesta, displaying an evolved cornice front, associated with the deposits that connect to the edge wall. eastern sedimentary basin that forms the Mountain range of Tombador.
