Submissions

Author Guidelines

• The journal adopts the current ABNT standards for bibliographic references.
• Files submitted for publication must be provided in an editable text format (Word).
• The manuscript must obligatorily include a title, abstracts, and keywords in the languages specified by the journal.
• If the manuscript was originally written in a foreign language, it must include an abstract and keywords in Portuguese and in the languages available on the journal’s interface.
• Authors must keep their registration profile up to date and, when submitting a new manuscript, must fully complete all the information requested under “Submission Conditions.”
• Information about the authors must include the following: full name, with the correct spelling; ORCID (see: orcid.org); affiliation: institution, city, state/province, and country (under no circumstances should affiliations be accompanied by academic degrees or authors’ biographical notes. When provided, these should be published separately from the affiliations as author notes); e-mail address; complete physical mailing address of the corresponding author, which may be an institutional address, provided at the end of the article; research funding source (if applicable); and potential conflicts of interest (if applicable).
• Optionally, authors may provide the following information at the end of the article: a) acknowledgments; b) brief biographical information, including academic and professional background.
• Figures and tables must have their intended placement indicated in the manuscript and must be submitted in a separate file, including identification of the software program and version used.
• Bibliographic information must be accurate and comply with the standards adopted by the journal.
• The contribution must be original and unpublished. It must not be under consideration for publication by another journal. If this is not the case, an explanation must be provided under “Comments to the Editor” when submitting the manuscript through the journal’s online submission system.
• Publication of manuscripts is subject to approval by peer reviewers. The evaluation will take into account the originality of the treatment of the topic, the consistency and rigor of the approach, and its contribution to the journal’s thematic scope. The identities of the peer reviewers will remain confidential, and the authors’ names will also be withheld from the reviewers.
• The unsolicited submission of articles and their subsequent acceptance for publication automatically imply the transfer to the journal of the rights of first publication. Intellectual property rights remain with the authors. Any subsequent reproduction, by any means, may only be carried out upon prior agreement between the journal and the author and with proper acknowledgment of the original source.
• The concepts expressed in the manuscripts are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of the Editorial Committee or the Editorial Board.
• The opinions, positions, and content expressed in published works are the sole responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the position of the journal, the Scientific Committee, the Graduate Program in Social Work, or UFSM.
• Authors whose works are published will be prohibited from publishing again in the journal for a period of 24 months.
• Failure to comply with any of the journal’s requirements may prevent the manuscript from remaining in the evaluation and publication process.
• Manuscript Formatting
  Regarding formatting, articles must be prepared using Microsoft Word for Windows or a compatible word processor. Articles must be between 12 and 20 pages in length, using A4 paper size, 12-point font, and single spacing, including figures, tables, and references.
• Book reviews must be between 2 and 4 pages in length.

Types of Manuscripts Accepted
The journal accepts submissions of the following types of manuscripts:

• Articles and essays: These should address current and broad topics that contribute to the production of knowledge, presenting applied studies and research or offering opinions and reflections on themes of interest to the field and to the journal. In the case of manuscripts presenting research results and involving the direct collection of data, proof of approval by a Research Ethics Committee must be provided.
• Practice reports: These should present analyses of experiences involving intervention processes, procedures, and theoretically grounded case studies that are of interest to Social Work and consistent with the journal’s editorial policy and priority themes.
• Book reviews: These should provide a critical summary of the work that allows readers to gain an overall understanding of the publication, complemented by a critical reading and indications of its characteristics and possible uses. Reviews of nationally published books will be accepted.

The Journal Does Not Accept

• Contributions whose content expresses propaganda of any kind or contains prejudiced ideas, reserving the right to require compliance with ethical standards and scientific rigor in the treatment of the topics addressed.
• Works resulting from productions carried out by undergraduate graduates without the participation of at least one author holding a minimum academic qualification of a master’s degree.
• Works with more than 3 co-authors. When works are produced by teams consisting of more than three participants, the corresponding contributors may be credited through a footnote acknowledging their participation.
