Aims: The aim of the study was to analyze studies in the literature on the use of essential oils in the practice of exercise. Methods: This is an integrative review, using the PubMed database, carried out in December 2023, based on a search in Health Science Descriptors (DeCS), from which the following were chosen and used: “essencial oil” and “exercise”, “aerobic exercise”, “exercise training”, combining them with the Boolean operator “AND”. Articles in English and original studies from the last 5 years were included. Thus, 16 studies were found, 05 articles being selected for the composition of the present work. Results: The studies generally indicate that the effects of the essential oils found have a potential relationship mainly with biomarkers of stress caused by exercise, acting to combat fatigue, anaerobic metabolism, time to exhaustion and reduction in the percentage of fat in some regions of the body. Final considerations: The findings of the study show that the use of essential oils in different types of physical exercise constitutes essential tools in combating inflammation, accelerating the active and/or passive recovery process of post-exercise muscles, directly improving adherence in practice. of the exercise. On the other hand, there are still few studies that address this topic.
