https://periodicos.ufsm.br/voluntas <p>A <em>Voluntas: Revista Internacional de Filosofia</em>, ISSN 2179-3786, Qualis/CAPES A3, é um periódico da Seção Brasileira da Schopenhauer-Gesellschaft (Sociedade Schopenhauer) vinculado aos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Filosofia da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM) e da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). Tem como objetivo central publicar trabalhos em formato de artigos originais, resenhas, traduções e entrevistas da área de Filosofia, especialmente sobre a filosofia schopenhaueriana, em vista de promover interlocuções entre pesquisadores brasileiros e estrangeiros. A revista é publicada em duas seções: (i) os Estudos Schopenhauerianos, expediente original do periódico que publica trabalhos sobre a filosofia de Arthur Schopenhauer; (ii) os Dossiês temáticos, que publicam trabalhos sobre os mais variados temas na área da Filosofia relacionados de alguma forma à filosofia de Schopenhauer. Além disso, a revista publica, eventualmente, números especiais. O periódico adota a modalidade de Publicação Contínua, com periodicidade anual. Generally, the issues addressed in these two traditions have led to the development of three main research trends: (1) theories on the nature of emotions and other affective states, and their relation to thoughts, bodily sensations, and other mental or bodily states; (2) analysis and understanding of the relationship between emotions and affectivity with other domains of human experience, such as morality, knowledge, religious experience, illness, politics, art, etc.; and (3) the development of theories on particular emotions such as love, envy, guilt, hope, loneliness, and their relation to other domains of human experience.</p> <p>Developments in these various fields have consolidated the importance of studying affective phenomena for overcoming old dichotomies, such as the separation between rationality and emotion. They have also highlighted underexplored but deeply promising results, such as the debate around emotions in social and political processes (affective injustice), as well as attempts to rehabilitate negative emotions (such as disgust, contempt, and anxiety) in morality, among other findings.</p> <p>Unfortunately, much of the work by researchers in the field of affectivity hasn’t received as much attention outside of countries in the global North, which has hindered the advancement of studies on emotions within the Brazilian and Latin American philosophical communities and their more direct participation in the debate.</p> <p>With these considerations in mind, this special issue of <em>Voluntas:</em> <em>International Journal of Philosophy</em> aims to bridge the approaches to topics in the philosophy of emotions from researchers in Europe and the United States with the study of emotions within the Brazilian and Latin American academic philosophy communities. We seek to explore different traditions of analysis and their relevance for understanding the various ways in which human emotions and affectivity interact and mutually influence our experience in the world. Appropriate topics for submission include translations of classic essays on emotions, as well as original articles and scientific review articles on the following topics:</p> <p>- Emotions and morality: the moral value of negative emotions, altruistic emotions, reactive attitudes, emotions and value; the normativity of emotions and emotional action;<br />- Affective perception: how emotions and feelings affect the way we perceive the world;<br />- Embodiment, affect, and embodied cognition;<br />- The phenomenology of emotions and emotional experience;<br />- Extended mind and extended emotional consciousness;<br />- "Scaffolded cognition and affectivity": affective artifacts and the construction of affective and cognitive niches;<br />- What are emotions? Cognitive and non-cognitive theories;<br />- Emotions and politics, emotions and aesthetic experience;<br />- Phenomenological conceptions of affective disorders (depression, chronic anxiety, etc.);<br />- The role of emotions in moral judgments;<br />- Epistemic emotions;<br />- Wonder, contemplation, sublime experiences, and aesthetic emotion;<br />- The role of affect in action and motivation;<br />- Social cognition: how we perceive and interact emotionally with others;<br />We welcome submissions that contribute to a deeper understanding of these themes and help bridge the gap between international research and Brazilian and Latin American philosophical inquiry into emotions.
