Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the influence on the growth of canafístula in nursery, considering different density on the tray and tube volume. The experiment was conducted in random blocks design with three blocks, in factorial scheme (5 x 2), being assessed five densities of seedlings on the tray (54, 36, 27, 18 and 9 seedlings) and two volumes of tubes (180 cm³ and 280 cm³), where the experimental unit was formed by the five most central seedlings. Were evaluated to 120 days after sowing the height (H), the diameter of the neck (DC), the dry mass of the shoot (SDM), root dry mass (RDM) and the total dry mass (TDM). These parameters were transformed in quality indexes of seedlings: H/DC H/SDM, SDM/RDM, and DQI (Dickson Quality Index). The canafístula seedlings produced in greater volume (280 cm³) showed higher values for height (H) and relation H/DC, SDM, RDM, TDM, best value SDM/RDM and DQI. The highest density of seedlings on the tray provided to plants growing in height (H) and H/DC and DQI, being recommended the use of 100% of the area of the tray in the production of seedlings of forest species.
